(Still under construction)
Pastor Matthew W. Crick has just recently graduated from Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary of our church body, the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS).
He has been called by God to serve as our pastor, and as missionary of North Central San Antonio. He began his work among us July 9, 2000, the day of his ordination.
Pastor Crick was born on March 18, 1967 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Vern and Camilla Crick. He was raised in Southwick, Massachusetts, a small town, ninety miles west of Boston. He graduated from Southwick Public High School in 1985. In 1990, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology.
At that time, Pastor Crick believed he had no need for the God of the Church.
After moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1991, Pastor Crick attended a Lutheran church service for the first time, at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church of our sister Synod, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Soon after, he began adult instruction classes under the congregation’s pastor, Phil Hirsch. He was received into communicant membership later that year. It was then he began to think about the pastoral ministry.
In 1993, Pastor enrolled at Northwestern College of the WELS to begin his pre-seminary training. In August 1996, he entered Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary. In May 1999, he was assigned to Parkland Lutheran Church of Tacoma WA, and Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church of Port Hadlock, WA, to begin his one year internship. He was supervised by Senior Pastor Glenn Obenberger. He graduated from the seminary, June 11, 2000.
On February 10, 1995, Pastor was joined in marriage to Renee’ Humann. The Lord has now blessed them with two children: Tyler, who is three, and Tianna, who is 1.
Pastor Crick would like to thank his Lord for preserving and strengthening him in faith towards his Savior Jesus Christ, to now begin serving the flock at Faith Lutheran, as well as the surrounding community, with God’s Word of hope!
GOD BE WITH ALL WHO CALL UPON
